Hi!

I have been looking at several chemistry textbooks for self-learning. I so far am interested in Chang’s books and Kotz and Treichel’s work.

However, I still can’t decide! Can you tell me what you think is the best chemistry textbook to use (include edition, please.)

Thank you!

In AP chemistry, how much of the textbook is used/covered in class?

Any AP chemistry book is fine. I’m using the Zumdahl book and it’s large, just over 1000 page textbook. Can the teacher really cover that much material over a school year so how much of the book is actually used? What are topics left out?

Why do so many chemistry textbooks insist on still using this error involving acids?

The error is their stating that adding acids to water increases “hydrogen ion” (H+) concentration. As you probably know, what really happens is that adding acids to water increases hydronium ion (H3O+) concentration. Some textbooks get it right, but why can’t they ALL fix this mistake?

What’s the difference between the textbooks “introductory chemistry” and “introductory chemistry essentials”?

They’re both by the author Nivaldo J. Tro.
My school recommended “introductory chemistry”, but if there’s not much difference b/w the 2, then i don’t wanna buy something more expensive.
Oh and I forgot to mention,
They’re both 3rd editions too.
