It is too old. There have been too many developments in this particular field. It is advisable to get new books on this subject especially. Sadia S

in the old book, you have a good reference point. the knowledge you gain from it wouldn't be a waste. you would have another author's opinion and that's not a bad thing.
having a current version of text would be advisable. you must be able to change with the times or become obsolete and left behind. although, history does offer a good foundation for true knowledge.
case in point: the first time that i studied about computer, i started from the knowledge of dos. this gave me clear knowledge of the function of the p c. word perfect was still our point of operation. later would come windows and having the solid foundation of knowledge helped me to make a smoother transformation. phoenix

Such an old text will be of limited use. It will probably give you a grounding in the basic concepts, but you would be far better off getting a more up to date text - there have been quantum leaps in technology, methodology and knowledge in the past 20 years.

Try eBay or a similar trading site; you should be able to pick up a modern text for a good price.

Good luck with the class :) Paul B
