Elizabeth asked:
Ok I’m reading a textbook in college for US history and while I’m not interested in what I’m reading as I find it boring, I would have to know some information for exams etc… How do I stay focused on the book and not let my mind wander off somewhere else? I know one way is to read out loud but what’s another way? I also know it’s a study skill to develop but how do you develop that skill so I know what I’m reading without my mind wandering off elsewhere since I am so uninterested in what I’m reading?

The Right 1 asked:
It’s obvious the libs have rewritten the textbooks so as to alter history to reflect their version of how they wanted it to be! and to make them politically correct as well!

XCalibur (Black Bloc) asked:
I was reading some History textbooks on early American history when I found a huge lack of information in the text. Christopher Columbus did not cope with the natives, him and his slaves enslaved them, and put them to work in cotton fields, mining gold, and other things. The pilgrims did not come to the Americas in search of new land. They came because of their want of gold! The texbooks don’t mention any thing on this and what kind of person Columbus was. They don’t even say how he paid for the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria.

Gone asked: In the 19th century, the British defeated China and took over the island of Hong Kong. The British conquered Arab, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Korea, and occupied India. The British invaded Africa and enslaved tens of millions of Blacks. The British occupied N. America and killed tens of thousands of Native Americans, and tens of thousands more died from relocation, diseases, and other hardships. The British wrote the dirtiest, bloodist, and ugliest page in human history—the British Century.
To what extent are the above discussed in the textbooks, and are those statistics mentioned in the books? Thanks.
Oh, sorry, I thought conquer=defeat. Now, I have realized conquer=occupy.
Anyway, thank you for pointing out my error, parrotjohn.
