Not sure about your case. One of the textbooks I was required to buy for my criminal justice class was a custom edition. According to what my professor said he tried negotiating with the sellers so the book would be cheaper for us to buy, so the seller made it customed. He didn't request anything to be changed in the book. I haven't compared it with the non-custom version but I don't know how to do that either so know I am stuck with this huge textbook that I can't sell because I don't know how different it is from the original version. The buyer should have told you that it was a custom edition before selling it to you. You could order a refund and send the book back, but I would try comparing it with someone in your class who has the non-custom version to see how different they are. If they aren't too different, you could try making copies of the pages that are different. Otherwise if it bothers you, yah, send it back. Otherwise it is only six dollars so you didn't lose a whole lot. Mindy

A custom version usually removes the chapters not required by the college.

Check-out the text and see if it has any missing chapters (Like it starts on page 256).

If so, get the syllabus for your new class and see what is covered. You might be okay! bedbye

A custom edition would seem to be a book designed for the students at that specific university. Maybe they include data from the Colorado region, or discuss issues about that region, in the text. If the title and authors of the book are the same as your professor requested, it should be adequate for use in your school. embroidery fan

custom edition means it's been customized i.e. changed. In some cases, textbooks are changed to fit the specific curriculum of a professor or class. They might take out some chapters, or add some sections and stuff like that. So it depends. Your best option is to ask your professor if he/she will recommend you using this custom edition. If it has all the chapter you need for the class then you should be good to go. <^----^>
