what is the best college biology textbook?
larry asked:
I placed out of general bio with AP credit. Since I plan on taking the MCAT, I thought it would be a good idea to read a college-level general biology textbook over the summer. People in my college used Biology 8th edition by Solomon Berg and Martin. I looked at an older edition and it really didn’t seem too greatly written. Does anybody have any recommendations? I realize Biology by Campbell is popular, and that is the one I read in high school, but is this book as in depth as other bio textbooks in college?

Biology by Raven, Johnson, Losos and Singer was what I used in General Bio, I’d recommend it. Seth

Cambell is one of the best. It’s still a basic biology book. Your more advanced courses will replace it. Wise Duck
